crunchpillow: shoes

I tried to go shoe shopping today. My work shoes are beat to hell and badly need replacing. And I could really learn to enjoy shoe shopping were it not for one thing. According to the shoe manufacturing industry, my size, women's 10 1/2, does not exist. Take a look a most web sites hawking shoes and the half sizes don't go above 9. More often than not, I am resigned to getting either a size 10 or 11, depending on whether or not the shoes will be worn with socks. I'm starting to wonder if the people making shoes assume that once your feet get as big as mine they just skip whole sizes or maybe they just plain don't like big footed women, or think we are all just drag queens. All I know is that I haven't had a pair of shoes that fit correctly since I was in high school. On the rare occasion that I do find a shoe in my size (every couple of years or so) they are usually, well, ugly.

What's a girl to do?
